U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Managed Network Services)

In support of the DHS Operations Directorate, Knight Sky designed, installed and operated the Emergency Response VSAT Network which supports all 54 states and territories. The communication network supports Sensitive-But-Unclassified (SBU) and Classified (SECRET) voice, data and video. The network is geographical redundant with two teleports located in Washington DC and San Diego, CA. The network supports the Primary FederOfficial (PFO), the Situational Awareness Team (D-SAT) and the Public Affairs Office (PAO). Knight Sky provided end to end managed network services from our 24/7 NOC located in Frederick, MD.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Earth Stations)

In support of the Operations Directorate, Knight Sky was awarded a contract to build earth stations in San Diego, CA and Washington, DC. As an enhancement to the Operations Directorate's Emergency Response Network, Knight Sky designed and installed 4.8 Meter Ku Band antennas at Point Loma, California and Nebraska Avenue in Washington, DC. A 9.0 Meter C Band terminal was also installed at Point Loma to provide additional coverage to US interests in the Pacific Region. The earth stations were completed and put into operation August 29, 2007 for the two year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

National Guard Bureau J6 (Satellite Solutions Consulting)

Knight Sky supported the National Guard Bureau in their efforts to conduct the Incident Response Satellite Communications Systems Ground Station Study as well as the Incident Response Satellite Communications Systems Deployable Terminal Fielding Study. These studies defined the requirements associated with satellite networks, ground stations and deployable communications solutions related to Defense Support to Civil Authorities and consequence management communications. Knight Sky conducted interviews with each State J6 and surveyed each states communications requirement and current capability as part of the assessment. The study enabled the NGB-J6 to prioritize funding and mission objective as part of their block and spiral development of deployable communications capabilities as it supports the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and first responders.

DISA (Subject Matter Expertise)

Knight Sky provided highly technical consulting support to DISA's Transformation Communications Engineering Office. As DISA grapples with inserting new technologies into its satellite architecture, it has relied heavily upon Knight Sky for analysis, testing, exercise support and assistance. Our team of technical and subject matter experts provides DISA with real-world experience as well as an understanding of emerging technology applications.

NOAA Satellite Operations Control Center (Equipment Relocation)

Knight Sky successfully relocated NOAA's Polar Operational Environmental Satellites (POES) ground equipment, which is the principal source of environmental data for the portion of the globe that is not covered by conventional environmental data sources. Knight Sky was tasked with all of the logistics related to the move of NOAA's POES ground system equipment which consisted of computer, electronic and other hard-to-replace, and sensitive equipment.

US Army Global Data Network (PM-CSS SATCOM)

Given a significant shortage of DoD satellite bandwidth, the Army G4 called on Knight Sky to deliver a commercial Ku-Band-based satellite architecture concept that was reliable, scalable and affordable. Knight Sky provided professional engineering services in the development of requirements analysis, conducted market surveys and designed, architected, tested and implemented a "Proof of Concept" Network which leveraged commercial satellite technologies and bandwidth.
